Kamagra Chewable Tablets Review: Well-Tolerated Generic Treatment for ED

Kamagra Chewable Tablets

Kamagra Chewable Tablets are widely used for treatment of Erectile Dysfunction since its clinical effectiveness has long been established by research and numerous clinical trials, for instance, “USE OF SILDENAFIL CITRATE FOR TREATMENT OF ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION OF VARIOUS ETIOLOGY” by Efremov et al (2015) which concluded that Sildenafil is an effective treatment for ED, regardless of the dysfunction etiology [1].

There are a lot of variants available in the market formulated by various manufacturers for Sildenafil and the Kamagra Chewable tablets is one of the unconventional products offered for Sildenafil. Ajanta Pharma manufactured the Kamagra line of products, a generic product line famous for being an alternative for the brand-name Viagra. Kamagra Chewables are available in the market in tablets containing 100 mg Sildenafil each. Chewable Sildenafil tablets are believed to work faster than the typical pill since it is delivered faster in the bloodstream as compared to the regular “hard” pill [2]. But even if the rate of absorption for Kamagra Chewable tablets is faster, the product’s effect is still the same with its hard counterpart. Kamagra Chewable is indicated for patients with ED and the “chewable” form is but a client preference and does not affect treatment [2]. All patients qualifying for Sildenafil treatment are also fit to take the chewable version and those patients who were ineligible for Sildenafil (Sildenafil-allergic, with cardiovascular disease, kidney problems, diabetes, etc.) are also contraindicated to take the chewable Kamagra variant [2].

About Ajanta Pharma

Office building of Ajanta Pharma
Office building of Ajanta Pharma

Ajanta Pharma, the manufacturer of the whole Kamagra product line, is a global company which specializes in the production of “branded generics” [3]. Although the company originated in India, it has spread its reach across 30 countries in Africa, Middle East, and South East Asia, and according to its information, it has created innovations in the pharmaceutical market, and a number or which are the pioneers in their own fields [3].

The company is home to a wide range of products from the generics and branded generics categories. It has products specified for these medical categories: Anti-Biotic, Anti-Malarial, Anti-Diabetic, Cardiology, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Pediatric, Respiratory & General Health products [4].

India is the home/base of the company, but as it is extending its reach, it has already entered the US Market, as it is already conducting manufacturing and marketing in the said country. As for its current drug-regulation approval status, Ajanta Pharma has one of its 5 facilities (in India) approved by the US FDA, while all of its manufacturing facilities are operating under the accreditation of the Indian FDA [3]. Its facilities also were built according to USFDA, UKMHRA, and WHO specifications. Also, all the FDAs of the countries it exports its products to all approved the products for distribution/patient use since countries cannot import foreign meds unless approved by their own FDAs [5].

As for Ajanta’s US FDA approvals for its drugs, they are still pending, since the standards for the US FDA drug approvals are slightly different than the FDA approvals of other countries [5]. It doesn’t mean that FDA the equivalent of the other countries are less stringent or sub-standard; it’s just that the US FDA has a lot of requirements it would like to look into which has something to do with its own importation guidelines [5].

Research and Scientific Studies Done on Sildenafil Citrate

Sildenafil Citrate is not only a well-known treatment for Erectile Dysfunction (ED); it is also a proven agent in helping patients suffering from ED to have a certain normalcy in their sexual life and is a well-backed cure for the dysfunction. There are a number of studies authenticating the claim of Sildenafil Citrate as a treatment for ED. For instance, the study conducted by Hatzimouratidis (2006) named “Sildenafil in the treatment of erectile dysfunction: an overview of the clinical evidence” which explored the clinical evidence of Sildenafil’s effectivity for ED patients [6].

According to Hatzimouratidis’ study, ED is associated with aging and a number of risk factors like cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and a number of drug-related conditions, and the study identified that ED is the underlying factor for metabolic diseases and CVD. Sildenafil’s effectiveness in the population with additional medical conditions was studied, and the researcher concluded that Sildenafil is effective even in patient populations having ED plus other conditions, even in those patients with Diabetes Miletus and post-Radical Prostatectomy [6]. Sildenafil was also found out to work at a rapid onset, taking only 14 minutes on some and maintains the effect for about 12 hours. With these results, the study concluded that Sildenafil is indeed effective in helping ED patients have a better quality of life, and also proved safe to use. Aside from that, the API (Sildenafil) also was discovered to have other beneficial effects aside from helping treat ED, as new data suggests that Sildenafil also has positive effects on a number of chronic medical conditions. Aside of ED, Sildenafil is also an approved treatment for pulmonary hypertension and also may have a role in treating Premature Ejaculation and relief for lower URTI symptoms [6].

Since Sildenafil is not only the available treatment in the market for ED, there is somewhat a debate regarding which treatment is the most effective for treating ED. The study done by Wen-Jun et al in 2015 (“An open-label, multicenter, randomized, crossover study comparing sildenafil citrate and tadalafil for treating erectile dysfunction in Chinese men naïve to phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor therapy”) aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Sildenafil Citrate and Tadalafil in Chinese patients, and the preference of these patients as well [7]. 350 patients (between 18-65) were able to complete the randomized treatment phase for both Sildenafil and Tadalafil, and both treatments proved safe and effective in treating ED [7]. However, more patients preferred Tadalafil over Sildenafil, as they reported that Tadalafil helped them sustain erections for longer as compared to Sildenafil [7]. As for the side effects, only 2% of the men reported to have headaches [7], but aside from that, there were none else.

Another study, “Sildenafil inhibits the growth of human colorectal cancer in vitro and in vivo” done by Xiao-Long (2015) studied the potential of Sildenafil to cure human colorectal cancer both in vivo and in-vitro [8]. The study involved testing of Sildenafil’s potency in inhibiting colorectal cancer growth in nude mice. The findings indicate that Sildenafil, a potent PDE-5 inhibitor, was able to significantly halt human colorectal cancer cells’ growth (both in vivo and in-vitro) by its ability to prompt cell-cycle termination and apoptosis with increased ROS (Reactive Oxidative Specie) levels [8]. This research by Xiao-Long et.al. indicated that Sildenafil has promise in becoming a future treatment for human colorectal cancer and not only a treatment for ED and pulmonary hypertension.

Sildenafil Citrate Action

Sildenafil Citrate works primarily as a PDE-5 inhibitor, which acts by inhibiting the action of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP, a specific Phosphodiesterase Type 5). The research “A population pharmacokinetic analysis of sildenafil citrate in patients with erectile dysfunction” by Peter Milligan (2001) described the Sildenafil’s action ED patients as one which selectively inhibits catabolism of cGMP found in cavernosal smooth muscle cells, therefore restoring the erectile response of the patients to sexual stimuli [9]. According to the study, Sildenafil is only able to restore a patient’s erectile capability in the presence of sexual stimulation/play [9].

Sildenafil Citrate Effect on ED Patients

Based on the mechanism of action of Sildenafil in patients, it is expected that the drug is able to enhance the patient’s capability to respond to sexual stimulus, as Sildenafil is not able to induce erections in patients without such stimuli [9]. Since Kamagra Chewables contain Sildenafil Citrate, it is implied that it is able to function as the regular “hard” Sildenafil pill types. The product’s drug description in Alldaychemist.com reiterates Sildenafil’s function as not one which causes a standalone penile erection, but only helps patients achieve an erection in the presence of sexual stimuli [10]. Aside from this function, Sildenafil Citrate is also known to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and enhance men and women’s exercise capability [10].

Dose Recommendation and Length of Treatment

Initial dosing of oral Sildenafil Citrate products (pills) is 50 mg only once a day, and only as needed, and about 30 minutes to 4 hours before the intended sexual activity [11]. Since the drug is used only as needed, there is no recommendation for the length of treatment for its use but Alldaychemist.com instructs that patients should take Kamagra Chewable as long as the patient’s physician instructs him to [10]. However, unlike the oral pills, Kamagra Chewable tablets need not be consumed with water, hence being “chewable”. This dosing is only the recommendation for patient undergoing ED treatment and is not meant for Sildenafil other use, like treatment for pulmonary hypertension, for instance. Also, since Sildenafil is known to interact with a number of other medications, patients taking other meds have varied recommended doses depending on their existing maintenance medications [11].

Side effects and Warnings

The study conducted by Goldstein et.al. (1998), “Oral sildenafil in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil Study Group” identified a number of side effects observed in patients taking Sildenafil [12]. Those side effects commonly observed in patients included in the study were headaches, flushing, and dyspepsia [12].

On the extreme side of the side effect spectrum, a number of conditions like abnormal/decreased vision, anxiety, behavioral change, eye bleeding, blurred vision, breast enlargement, chest/bone pain, chills/cold sweats, confusion, convulsion, hearing loss, dizziness/drowsiness, severe headache, migraine, severe nausea, nervousness, arrhythmias, tachycardia, and a number of other symptoms may also be observed, but in rare cases only [13].

Sildenafil Citrate Drug Interactions

There are a number of known drugs (460 drug types: 2048 brand/generic) found to interact with Sildenafil citrate [14]. Among those, 40 (139 brands) cause major drug interactions, 411 (1833 brands) moderate, and 9 (76 brands) minor. A number of those commonly interacting with Sildenafil are Lasix, Metoprolol Succinate and Tartrate, Xanax, Fish Oil, Tylenol, Paracetamol, and a lot more others [14].

The chewable Kamagra variant is a well-reviewed product by users and patients who tried the drug. Most of the reviews for the product from different sites are positive towards Kamagra Chewable’s effect as a treatment for ED.

Customers agree: it is fast
Customers agree: it is fast

Some patients said that the product works fast and usually within 45 minutes of intake. Client satisfaction for chewable Kamagra is generally high, and the users all recommend its use, although some found the product “slightly less powerful” than the regular pill version. There’s not much proof to that, though, as the same amount of active ingredient (100 mg) may be found in both the hard and the chewable Kamagra variant.

Kamagra, as a line of products, has a number of product variations available in the market. Kamagra chewable pills (100 mg) is only an example of the products available for the brand. Kamagra has regular strength (hard) pills available in 50 and 100 mg, it has Kamagra Gold pills (100 mg), Oral jellies (100 mg) and Kamagra Fizz which may be dissolved in water and taken as a drink.

The price for Kamagra Chewable tablets vary from one site to another, but it is generally sold cheaper than the brand-name Sildenafil products like Viagra. Reliablecanadianpharmacy.com sells 8 tablets of chewable Kamagra for $2.50 each but sells them for $2.00 each when bought in 12 pieces. The general rule for most of the products sold online is that more quantity means less pricing, so buyers with larger quantities order get the most out of the product pricing online. Concerning shipping, there are online drugstores which ship the products for free, but generally, shipping is charged a flat rate within the range of $20-$25, which depends on the vendor’s discretion. The shipping fee actually does not vary depending on the destination; the fees vary depending on the courier choice of the buyer.

Conclusion and Rating

Sildenafil has long been proven an effective treatment for Erectile Dysfunction, and there’s no disputing that fact since there had been a great number of clinical trials and research supporting the active ingredient claim in treating the said dysfunction [1][6][7][9][12]. It is also used as a treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension as its effectiveness in the clinical condition is also established. Aside from being a proven and well-known treatment for ED, Sildenafil use is being studied for a number of cases like Premature Ejaculation and Human Colorectal Cancer [7]. According to research, Sildenafil has great potential in curing other diseases aside of ED.

Although established as a “gold standard” in the ED treatment, there are a number of ED treatment options for the general population, like Tadalafil. Albeit Sildenafil and Tadalafil were both effective in helping ED patients regain their sexual function, patients preferred Tadalafil over Sildenafil in the research conducted by Wen-Jun in 2015 [7].

Since Kamagra Chewable tablets contain Sildenafil Citrate, it is implied that it is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction. The medium which it is delivered (chewable form) does not affect its potency, but only helps to get the active ingredient get absorbed more quickly into the bloodstream. Patients and users seem to appreciate its effect as the product was well-received on a number of sites selling the product. And because this is the case, I am rating Kamagra Chewable Tablets with 4 points out of 5 due to its confirmed effectiveness for ED treatment. My reservation is only for its unknown US FDA approval status, but otherwise, it is a recommendable drug to take for ED; of course, under the direct supervision of a GP. I also recommend searching for reliable vendors on the internet for this drug, as the web seems flooded with counterfeit and scamming sellers recently.
